How the LIPIFLOW system works

  • The principle of treatment is based on vectorial thermal pulsation technology - a breakthrough in the therapy of meibomian gland dysfunction

  • After a drop of local anesthetic is given, no medication is used in this procedure

  • The LipiFLOW system brings the therapeutic energy directly to the meibomian glands and protects the sensitive structure of the patient's eye

  • The thickened meibomian secretion is liquefied in the blocked glands and then transported to the opening in the gland and further out to the edge of the eyelid

  • The eye-adapted design of the therapy device spans the cornea and protects the eye

  • Heat and pressure are regulated by several sensor systems
