Thealoz® Duo is Thea’s most advanced preservative-free combination of sodium hyaluronate and trehalose for moderate to severe dry eyes, in a hypotonic formulation that can be used with contact lenses

Thealoz Duo contains trehalose 3% and sodium hyaluronate 0.15% in a preservative-free formulation
Trehalose protects the epithelial cells on the ocular surface, improving their resistance to daily stress of dry environments and tear film changes in a dry eye; it has very high water retention capabilities with both bioprotection and osmoprotection properties
Sodium hyaluronate adds moisture by retaining water to hydrate and lubricate the surface of the eye
Also available in the inexpensive bulk pack with 3 dropper bottles and as a uni-dose pack with 30 single-dose containers.
Thealoz Duo is indicated for moderate to severe dry eye disease. Clinical studies have shown that a single drop of Thealoz Duo improves the thickness of the tear film for at least 4 hours (6 times longer than sodium hyaluronate alone). In one study, 62% of patients receiving Thealoz Duo were symptom free after 84 days, with significant improvements in blurred vision, stinging and itching.

Trehalose is a naturally occurring disaccharide (double sugar) that is synthesized by many living organisms in the event of persistent drought in order to protect themselves from the harmful effects of drought (anhydrobiosis).

How to use

Thealoz® Duo Gel provides all the hydrating, lubricating and protecting benefits of Thealoz Duo in dry eye disease, but in a single-dose gel formulation that increases residency time in the eye making it particularly suitable for night-time use
Thealoz Duo Gel contains trehalose 3%, sodium hyaluronate 0.15% and carbomer 0.25% in a preservative free gel formulation
Trehalose helps protect corneal cells from the osmotic stress of a dry eye environment, by regulating the movement of water across cell membranes, stabilising the lipid bilayer and preventing the denaturation of proteins under osmotic stress conditions
Trehalose enhances TFEB (Transcription factor EB) activity, a key regulator of autophagy. In this way, cell renewal is promoted and apoptosis and the associated inflammation is reduced.

How to use
Contact lenses should be removed before using Thealoz Duo Gel and reinserted 30 minutes after instilling the gel. If more than one ocular product is being used, 15 minutes should be allowed between instillation of two different products, with Thealoz Duo Gel used last.
Thealoz Duo Gel and Thealoz Duo eye drops can be used concurrently for maximum comfort.

Introducing Liquivisc®
Liquivisc contains 2.5 mg/g carbomer 974P gel in an eye drop formulation
Liquivisc forms a transparent lubricating and wetting film on the surface of the eye
The Liquivsic film provides relief from the symptoms of dry eye. The gel has a similar pH (7.3) and osmolarity to normal tears, but with a greater viscosity.
Liquivisc contains a low concentration of a preservative.
